A common question from our photo booth rental clients is “where should I put the photo booth?”
Placement matters more than people expect. You’re having a booth because you want guests to actually use it, and where it sits in the room decides whether they do.
Things to consider when planning your room layout
Give it a 10′ x 10′ clear area. Our booths are open air, so they don’t need a lot of room — but people need somewhere to stand, and a group of eight piling in takes up more space than the booth itself.
Put it where people walk past. Guests use what they can see. A booth around a corner or down a hallway gets a fraction of the traffic of one that’s in view from the bar or the dance floor.
Close to the action, not in the middle of it. You want people drifting over between songs. You don’t want the queue crossing the dance floor.
Check there’s an outlet nearby. This is the one that catches venues out. The best-looking corner of the room isn’t always the one with power, and it’s far easier to sort out while you’re planning than on the day.
Watch the lighting. A booth under a bright spotlight, or in front of a window at sunset, ends up fighting its own lighting. Somewhere evenly lit beats somewhere dramatic.
Leave somewhere for the line. With an open-air booth the queue is half the fun — people watch the group ahead of them and know what they’re in for. Just make sure they’re not waiting in a doorway.
If you’re not sure, ask your venue coordinator where they’ve seen booths work before. And tell us as well — our attendant handles setup and teardown, and we’d much rather talk about placement beforehand than move a booth during cocktail hour.
